Championship – Barnsley To Be Relegated

Paul Heckingbottom has done a magnificent job at Oakwell and has coped admirably with the copious transactions throughout the summer months as Barnsley continue to sell their star assets. This time around, Marc Roberts has departed for Birmingham with Josh Scowen heading for QPR whilst Marley Watkins joins up with the Canaries. Every summer rebuild has been effective thus far under the tutelage of the South-Yorkshire born boss but this one may be a step too far. They were hammered in pre-season by neighbours Rotherham and whilst it isn't advised to read too much into this, fans on social media appear disillusioned with the board and there appears to be sympathy towards the manager. The league looks extremely competitive once again and I think this time around, it may be too big an ask to retain their status.

League One – Gillingham To Be Relegated

It's a toss-up between the Gills and the Saddlers for League One relegation next season but I'm opting for Ady Pennocks side to suffer a drop into League Two. They weren't great under the tutelage of the former Forest Green boss last season and the chairman has kept faith with the manager throughout the summer (this is likely to be due to financial reasons). Cody McDonald and Bradley Dack have left whilst Deji Oshilaja could be a big loss at the back. Clubs are also sniffing around Jose Wright who could also depart before the end of August. They won just one of their last nine games at the end of the season with their only victory coming against a travel-sick Bristol Rovers. It could be a long hard season in Kent.

League Two – Crawley To Be Relegated

Somewhat surprisingly Crawley are only third favourites to be relegated next season at a nice price of 4/1. Dermot Drummy is replaced by Harry Kewell who didn't make the grade at Watford Under 23s. The Sussex club are struggling to make ends meet and they have lost 20 goal striker James Collins who joins Luton. Take the hitman out of the side and you are left with a very underwhelming squad and a season of difficulty lies ahead. The Red Devils only league victory since the end of February last year came against relegated Leyton Orient and they failed to score in three of their last five matches. Kewell may surprise but he's got a difficult job on his hands at the Stadium.
