Huddersfield host Brighton in the Championship on Thursday night and we’ve got betting tips and predictions for the match.

Huddersfield vs Brighton Preview

Both of these sides have had excellent season so far and are challenging for promotion. Pre-Season most pundits were predicting the Seagulls to be troubling the top six following their near miss last season but many were tipping Huddersfield to struggle.

David Wagner has done a superb job at the John Smith’s Stadium and he’s also recruited sensibly. The players clearly want to play for the German tactician and he managed to find solutions once his side hit a rough patch and didn’t panic when things weren’t going their way.

He’s been rewarded with a 5th round FA Cup tie against Manchester City but the Terriers must keep their eye firmly on the league.

At the time of writing (Wednesday afternoon) Wagner’s side sit 5th trailing near neighbours Leeds by a couple of points. They may be seven points off automatic promotion but they are in with a terrific chance of securing a play-off spot.

They have been superb at the John Smith’s Stadium and their penchant for winning games by just a single goal has seen them amass 51 points so far.

They haven’t lost players in the January Transfer Window and will be difficult to beat. They haven’t lost since the end of November.

Brighton are top at the time of writing (before Newcastle play QPR) and have been battling head to head with Newcastle for a number of weeks now.

The Seagulls slipped up against Preston at Deepdale, but had key players missing that day. They bounced back with a superb 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday but were knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Lincoln on Saturday.

Chris Hughton made numerous changes for that game and will be able to bring back his first choice XI for this tie.

They’ve won three of their last five away matches beating Fulham, Blackburn and Birmingham winning each of those contest by a single goal often late in the game.

Jack Payne sits this one out through suspension. Kasey Palmer is close to a return and could make the bench whilst Sean Scannell is still on the sidelines.

Chuba Akpom joined on deadline day and could start here. He could replace Sam Baldock who is struggling with an injury. Gaeten Bong is absent but Dale Stephens should be fit enough to play.

Huddersfield vs Brighton Head to Head

These sides have drawn the last three meetings here all finishing 1-1. Brighton have won the last two meetings with the Terriers but they’ve both been at the AMEX.

Huddersfield haven’t beaten Brighton since April 2011.

Glenn Murray dominates the goalscoring market but doesn’t net many away from home.
